CASPER The Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police (CASPER)


The Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police (CASPER) will be participating in the following planned events in 2012.

  • 14th February - PC Allen Mason Memorial Dedication at Surrey Police Headquarters. PC Mason was badly beaten in July 1859 whilst trying to arrest a deserter in Cobham, Surrey. Please click here to view the gallery of the event.

  • 29th April - Surrey Police Open Day. CASPER will have a marquee were members of the public can see uniform displays and various pictures of the work that the Ceremonial Unit carries out – there will also be an opportunity to purchase the new CASPER Tie Tac which profits are used to support the unit and also towards Charity.

  • 5th May - Wreath laying ceremony at the Royal Air Force War Memorial, Floriana, Malta, where CASPER has been been attending since being invited in 2009. The annual ceremony remembers the 2300 Allied airman with no known grave in the Mediterranean Theatre of War during World War Two, and who are named on the memorial. Included are three Surrey Constabulary Police Officers namely: PC 350 Clive Nibbs Millward, Flying Officer RAFVR; PC 382 Wilfred Harold James Pickard, Flying Officer RAFVR; and PC Eric Norman Woods, Wing Commander DFC and Bar.

  • 11th November - Rememberance Day Parade at Brookwood Military Cemetery, where we march from Pirbright Village Hall to the Military Cemetery with a Surrey Police senior officer (last year it was Chief Constable Mark Rowley) and join the Army Training Regiment in the act of rememberance and afterwards officers lay wreaths at various national memorials which they have connections with. Afterwards we march back to Pirbright Village hall for refreshments.
